by Bryan Adams

There's a road - long and winding
The lights are blindin' - but it gets there
Don't give up - don't look back...
There's a silver linin' - it's out there somewhere

Everybody wants an answer - everybody needs a friend
We all need a shinin' star on which we can depend
N so tonight were gonna wish upon a star
We never wished upon before - (to find what you're looking for)

There'll be times - in your life
Ya when you be dancin' n shit - but you ain't gettin' it
But don't get disillusioned - no, don't expect too much
Cuz if what you have is all you can get - just keep on
Tryin - it just ain't happened yet

Everybody wants ta be winner - everybody has a dream
We all need a shinin' star when things ain't what they seem
So tonight were gonna wish upon a star
We never wished upon before - (gotta get where you're
Headed for)

Everybody wants some kindness - everybody needs a break
We all need a shinin' star when things get hard to take
So tonight were gonna wish upon a star
We never wished upon before

Collin Raye

You've been my best friend all these years
You've kept holding on to me through all the trials and the tears
Only you and I could know all the sacrifices
That let this feeling grow.
There were so many times we could have said goodbye
We could have called it quits but, honey, you and I --

We're survivors - we made through the storm.
When I've needed shelter, I've found it in your arms.
Survivors - in love enough to fight
Together in this thing for life

There were times I lost my mind -
Took some wrong turns you got me back in line.
There were times you lost control
But I stood by you I loved you, heart and soul.
When faith was tested and dreams were fading fast,
We held each other close until the rain had passed.

We're survivors - we made through the storm.
When I've needed shelter, I've found it in your arms.
Survivors - in love enough to fight
Together in this thing for life.

A little time and tenderness
Has seen us through the years.
We'll still be side by side
When the final smoke has cleared.

We're survivors - we made through the storm.
When I've needed shelter, I've found it in your arms.
Survivors - in love enough to fight
Together in this thing for life. . .
Together in this thing for life.

If you ever wondered what side of the fence you sit on, this is a great test!

If a conservative doesn't like guns, he doesn't buy one.
If a liberal doesn't like guns, he wants all guns outlawed.

If a conservative is a vegetarian, he doesn't eat meat.
If a liberal is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for everyone.

If a conservative is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.
A liberal wonders who is going to take care of him.

If a conservative doesn't like a talk show host, he switches channels.
Liberals demand that those they don't like be shut down.

If a conservative is a non-believer, he doesn't go to church.
A liberal non-believer wants any mention of God and religion silenced. (Unless it's a foreign religion, of course!)

If a conservative decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it.
A liberal demands that the rest of us pay for his.

If a conservative reads this, he will mention it so his friends can have a good laugh.
A liberal will be outraged it because he or she is "offended".

Well, I put it on my blog.

The sheriff verbally explodes, "Mister, I have the authority of the Sheriff's Department with me."

The old farmer nods politely and goes about his chores.

Later, the old farmer hears loud screams and spies the sheriff running for his life -- close behind is the farmer's bull. With every step the bull is gaining ground on the officer. The sheriff is clearly terrified.

The old farmer immediately throws down his tools, runs to the fence and yells at the top of his lungs, "Your badge! Show him your badge!"

You have climbed, you have fought, you have won.
But this valley that lies coldly before you,
Casts a shadow you cannot overcome.

Just when you thought you had it all together.
You knew every verse to get you through.
But this time all the sorrow broke more than just your heart.
And reciting all those verses just won't do.

When answers aren't enough, there is Jesus.
He is more than just an answer to your prayer.
And your heart will find a safe and peaceful refuge.
When answers aren't enough, He is there.

Instead of asking why did it happen?
Think of where it can lead you from here.
And as your pain is slowly easing, you will find
A greater reason to live your life triumphant through the tears.

Though the cold and brutal fact is
You and I have never met,
We need not mind convention's P's and Q's
If we put our thoughts in practice
We can banish all regret
Imagining most anything we choose.

Only make believe I love you,
Only make believe that you love me.
Others find peace of mind in pretending,
Couldn't you?
Couldn't I?
Couldn't we?
Make believe our lips are blending
In a phantom kiss, or two, or three.
Might as well make believe I love you,
For to tell the truth I do

Although loneliness has always been a friend of mine
I'm leaving my life in your hands
People say I'm crazy and that I am blind
Risking it all in a glance
How you got me blind is still a mystery
I can't get you out of my head
Don't care what is written in your history
As long as you're here with me

I don't care who you are
Where you're from
What you did
As long as you love me
Who you are
Where you're from
Don't care what you did
As long as you love me

Every little thing that you have said and done
Feels like it's deep within me
Doesn't really matter if you're on the run
It seems like we're meant to be

I don't care who you are
Where you're from
What you did
As long as you love me
Who you are
Where you're from
Don't care what you did
As long as you love me

I've tried to hide it so that no one knows
But I guess it shows
When you look into my eyes
What you did and where you're comin' from
I don't care, as long as you love me, baby.

I don't care who you are
Where you're from
What you did
As long as you love me
Who you are
Where you're from
Don't care what you did
As long as you love me

Today it was the madness of travel - and then to work. I never sleep well in a motel the night before I fly. Actually, today it was better since I did not have to fly until 8 a.m. Usually, I fly earlier -- 6:30 or 7:30 a.m. -- and it makes it much more interesting getting to the airport - flying - driving 2 1/2 hours to work - then working the rest of the day and late to make up time. Most of the time on the driving portion, I find myself starting to doze and have to stop and try to get a power nap in order to continue without mishap. Today was no different -- I stopped at a Sheetz station to get food - then across the street to McDonald's for an Ice Mocha (nonfat, no whip, extra drizzle). But that only got me to the outskirts of Winchester and I had to stop and sleep a little.

I get to do it all over again the end of the month - but I think I have an extra day and fly later in the day on the return trip.

I always find air travel interesting - especially the people. On this trip, one gentleman was using his laptop on the plane during the flight - and drinking coffee - and - you guessed it - he spilled his coffee all over his keyboard. He wasn't nearly as perturbed as I would have been! He thought he could just let it dry out for a day or two and then it would be fine. Hmmmm - not sure about that one although it sounds good in theory. Depends, I suppose, on how much damage was done immediately after the spill - before he managed to pull the battery pack.

Another guy was traveling with a baby who looked like she was about 3 or 4 months old. It's more unusual to see a man traveling alone with a baby than a woman alone with a baby. In fact, I don't know if I've ever seen a lone man with a baby. Upon arrival in Baltimore, I saw him pawing through bunches of baby clothes in his luggage that had been checked to find the baby's medicine (a woman would have had it in the carry-on baby bag) - which he eventually found and administered. Poor little tyke. If the clothes in that bag had been folded neatly before he started his search, they definitely weren't by the end of it.

The were the usual representations of all manner of language, clothing, and high-heeled shoes much to uncomfortable to walk in. But you see those things many places besides airports.

The flight this morning was totally full - my row had a very heavy-set man (who had to use a seat-belt extender) on the aisle, and I was in the window seat. No one wanted to squeeze into that middle seat (I thought we might escape), and it was open until the very last passenger - a stand-by - came aboard and squished himself in that middle seat -- a nice man who asked me if I wanted to read his paper. I told him I fully intended to sleep and that was the end of conversation. Nothing beats just saying it right out loud - "I want to sleep." Then there's no mistaking my intention and I'm generally left alone. I miss the snacks and drinks, but oh well - it's a trade-off.

We were no more than strangers
And now my heart tells me that we are strangers no more
